Horizons District’s online web presence is an award winner. HorizonsDistrict.com was awarded the RedBud for Best Website – Large Budget Organization by the Oklahoma Tourism Industry Association on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
HorizonsDistrict.com serves as the digital front door to one of Oklahoma City’s newest destination districts—an emerging cultural and entertainment hub along the Oklahoma River that brings together First American culture, recreation, dining and immersive visitor experiences. The website was created to introduce Horizons District to the public, establish its identity and provide a clear and inspiring guide for visitors exploring this transformative new part of the city.
Horizons District is home to OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark, Exhibit C Gallery, the First Americans Museum and several restaurants and attractions along The Boardwalk. HorizonsDistrict.com is managed by the Chickasaw Nation Department of Communications and Community Development, Office of Marketing and Tourism, division of tourism, which also manages Exhibit C Gallery.
The Best Website category described winning entries as user-friendly and effective, demonstrating creativity, providing visual appeal, being appropriate for target audiences, and achieving goals.
“The strategy for the website centered on creating a destination-first experience, emphasizing immersive photography, streamlined navigation and concise storytelling to guide users through the district’s experiences—from cultural exploration and family-friendly activities to shopping and dining,” said Paige Shepherd, director of tourism for the Chickasaw Nation. “Content was intentionally structured around visitor curiosity: what to see, what to do and why this district is unique within Oklahoma City.”
“As more individuals and families learn about and experience Horizons District for themselves, we know even greater things will come,” said Andrea Horner, under secretary, marketing and tourism for the Chickasaw Nation. “Horizons District has been a catalyst for visitors coming into Oklahoma City and surrounding communities. Tourism has always been an important effort in the Chickasaw Nation. It provides a way to share our culture as well as economic benefits with our communities.”
In addition to the Redbud award, HorizonsDistrict.com received a Silver ADDY earlier this year in Online/Interactive, Websites – Consumer from the Oklahoma City Chapter of the American Advertising Federation.
