Between What Was and What Will Be: Art from the Unexpected

Between What Was and What Will Be: Art from the Unexpected showcases the work of seven First American artists who breathe new life into found and repurposed materials. From natural elements to everyday objects, these artworks explore transformation, memory and connection to place. Through sculpture, assemblage and mixed media, these artists highlight the beauty and meaning that can be uncovered in the overlooked. This exhibition invites viewers to see familiar materials in a new light – as vessels of creativity, tradition and personal story. Between What Was and What Will Be: Art from the Unexpected will be on display Oct. 31, 2025, through March 2, 2026.

Featured Artists: Hattie Lee Mendoza (Cherokee), Tina Benavente (Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana), Dusty Gilpin (Choctaw), Melinda Schwakhofer (Muscogee), Paige Busick (Chickasaw), Alicia Roedell-Clark (Caddo), Daniel Worcester (Chickasaw).
