All My Relations: Recent Acquisitions at First Americans Museum

All My Relations: Recent Acquisitions at First Americans Museum

All My Relations: Recent Acquisitions at First Americans Museum is a selection of works from the museum’s permanent collection that demonstrate familial ties. All the works are made by artists from the 39 Tribal Nations in Oklahoma whose works remind us of an old and persistent teaching: everything is connected.

This exhibition provides an opportunity for guests to view the latest additions to our permanent collection, which has been largely built through donations.

All My Relations: Recent Acquisitions at First Americans Museum features works that represent our families. Like sisters Keri Ataumbi and Teri Greeves (both Kiowa Tribe), whose works are included together. Some art focuses on family relationships, as in Ben Shoemaker’s (Quapaw Tribe/Shawnee Tribe/Cherokee Nation) painting, Father and Child. The pieces included in this exhibition range from works on paper to a painted horse skull. Together, they demonstrate a range of skills, like metalworking, printmaking, or painting, that share the scope of work being made by artists from the 39 Tribal Nations in Oklahoma today.

The event is finished.
